St. Patrick's Junior and Senior National Schools have achieved a Science Foundation Ireland Discover Science and Maths Plaque of STEM Excellence for the 2017/18 academic year. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. The students in St. Patrick's have been working extremely hard during the year on these areas. All classes were involved in the work that was carried out and we recorded a sample of the STEM work that took place across the school. They conducted science experiments, used technology in various subjects, developed their engineering skills, had guest speakers and they showcased their STEM work to other classes in the school. It is fantastic to see all of the science, technology, engineering and maths work being carried out in the school with such enthusiasm. Well done to all involved.
We put up bird boxes around the school recently and members of our Green School's Committee were busy inspecting the work. We had a visit from members of the Clonmel Fire Brigade today. The fire fighters came in to our 3rd class pupils and had a great discussion about fire safety. The fire officers gave some great advice and practical tips on how to make our homes safer and what to do in the event of a fire.
The Junior and Senior Schools put on a great show today in the hall. The pupils learned all about Zumba during their dance lessons over the last 5 weeks and each class performed two dances in front of the rest of the school. Well done to everyone involved! We had our annual Save Energy Day in April. Parents, students and staff made a huge effort to save energy by finding alternative, more energy efficient ways to come to school. Our students were busy with pottery and produced some excellent pieces. Once completed they waited several days for them to dry out and then painted them. Our U-13 hurling team finished their year with a great performance against Littleton in Killenaule on Wednesday. Littleton won the game but it was a close match and very entertaining. There were some great performances from our 4th, 5th and 6th class pupils. Well done to all involved. There was great excitement throughout the school today as boys and girls were looking forward to the Easter Raffle and Cake Sale. We would like to say a huge thank you to our Parent's Association who give so generously of their time and put in so much work to help support our school. Thanks also to all of the children and parents who supplied all of the buns and cakes for todays Cake Sale. Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir! Thanks so much to all the parents for their support during the year for the Peace Proms. Although we were all disappointed that we could not attend the concert in Kilkenny, the children put on an amazing show in school today and we were delighted that so many could attend. We would like to say a huge thank you to Ms. Dunne who put so much work in throughout the year and prepared the pupils so well. Click here to check out some of the videos of their performance. Some of our pupils were busy learning all about Amelia Earhart recently and constructed their own airplanes. Well done to all involved. They look great! |
