We had great fun in the run up to Christmas this year! While we couldn't go to the panto this year, the panto came to us as we watched the fantastic Helix panto 'The Sword in the Stone' in school. Well done to our raffle winners and thank you to the Parents' Association for organising it. We also had our Christmas jumper day where we raised money for Barnardos, thank you for your generous donations. Finally we made and enjoyed some yummy Christmas treats! Wishing everyone a happy and safe Christmas.
A very warm welcome to our twenty new Junior Infant pupils who are settling in very well into their new surroundings. We hope they will be very happy here with us in St. Patrick's Junior N.S. Well done to all of the children who made a great effort in dressing up for World Book Day 2020. They looked fantastic and had a brilliant day partaking in book themed activities such as; a book quiz, book bingo, book reviews, designing a bookmark and designing a book cover! We had a great afternoon at our annual céilí mór! A huge thank you to céilí dancing teacher, Josephine for all her hard work and dedication. Wishing everyone an enjoyable midterm break. The children attended an art exhibition in Carrick-On-Suir last week. There they met with artist Marguerite and took inspiration from the art on display. Marguerite then visited our school to conduct a printing lesson with the children. The children took inspiration from what they had seen at the exhibition to create their own printing tile and make prints with it. Maths for Fun started this week in the Junior School. The boys and girls had great fun playing maths games with their friends. A huge thank you to all the parents who volunteered to help out, your support is greatly appreciated. Today we held a mock election to illustrate to the children how the upcoming general election will work. Fifth and sixth class students acted as our candidates. They each prepared a poster and a speech outlining their policies. A big well done to all of the candidates who volunteered, they spoke very well and came up with some fantastic ideas. The children were then given ballot papers to cast their vote and finally the votes were counted! |
