We had a fantastic day for the senior school tour last Friday. We went to Kilkenny Activity Centre where the children took part in splatball and an assault course. We were blessed with the weather and had our lunch outside before heading to KBowl. A huge thank you to the Parents' Association for their contribution towards the cost of the bus.
It was a sad day today as we said farewell to Mrs. Sheehan who has been teaching Drama in our school for the past 27 years. The children have made memories to last a lifetime and gained a vast amount of skills from working with Mrs. Sheehan over the years. We had an assembly today with staff past and present to mark the occasion where presentations were made to Mrs. Sheehan on behalf of the staff, children, Parents' Association and Board of Management. We will miss her so much and wish her all the best on her retirement. It was great to have Albert Byrne in recently for a walk and talk on insects, flowers and pollination. On Thursday 23rd May we went to Hotel Kilkenny to receive our fifth Green Flag for Biodiversity. Some children from 5th and 6th Class performed a rap in front of a large audience. We're really looking forward to raising the flag back at school and would like to thank to everyone for all their hard work over the last two years!
Today in Maths we explored the chance of getting certain outcomes through practical activities. Activities included; coin flipping, the dice rolling and rock-paper-scissors. Well done to all the boys and girls on our U-13 hurling panel. We played Kilbarron NS in the semi-final and despite being down 6 points at half time, went on to win the game. The final will be held in Semple Stadium in June. Well done again to all involved. Below are some photos from our rehearsals of 'Jack and the Drangan Beanstalk'. We had a fantastic day for World Book Day 2019! The children put a great effort into their costumes and looked fantastic! We enjoyed activities such as a book themed quiz and creating book reviews. |
